1. Competition is addressed to amateur choirs

2. Artistic council will decide about choirs which will take part in the Festival on the basis of recordings sent by the group (CD, DVD or MP3) and declared competition programme

Competition rules:

1. The choirs qualified to the festival are supposed to prepare the contest programme of the duration of 15-20 minutes (including entering and leaving the stage); in case of senior choirs, the time is between 12 and 15 minutes (including entering and leaving the stage). Exceeding the time limit might result in losing 2 points of the general assessment.

2. The contest programme should consist of minimum 4 choral a cappella pieces which are to be stylistically diverse; presenting one of the pieces accompanied by and instrument written in the score will be accepted.

3. The organizers would like to encourage all the participants to include Jozef Swider’s compositions into the contest program. The best rendition will be awarded with the special prize of PLN 3000. The presentation of Józef Świder’s work is not obligatory, yet it entitles to compete for the Grand Prix prize of the festival.

4. Organisers reccomend and encourage to perform piece of other composer connected with Cieszyn Silesia. Although it’s not compulsory, there is special jury prize provided.

5. Those pieces that were declared in advance are compulsory and cannot be changed later.

6. During auditions assessment will be done by the jury set up by the organisers, consisting of qualified choirmasters and conductors. Evaluation of the jury are confidential. The jury’s decisions are final and irrevocable.

7. Main criteria taken into consideration:
– performance level and difficulty of the programme
– repertoire selection and dramaturgy
– articulation, both verbal and musical
– musical expression: interpretation, style of performance
– sound values, voice emission
– intonation

8. The categories of the contest:
• children choirs (age up to 15) *
• youth choirs (between the age of 15 and 19) *
• academic choirs
• homogeneous choirs (male or female)
• chamber choirs (12 to 24 members)
• mixed choirs
• senior choirs (over the age of 55) *

*min. 90% of the choir members should fulfill the requirements for a given age category.

8. Choirs taking part in the festival also takes part in the Gala concert, which takes place in Jesus Church in Cieszyn on 7th of December 2019. They’re obliged to prepare two common pieces „Ojcowski Dom” and „Płyniesz Olzo”. Music sheets will be sent to choirs by organizers.

9. Organizers are not responsible for illegal performing (copyrights) and law consequences connected with mentioned.

10. Application to participate in the festival means agreement with the organizers’ right to register, dissemination and use materials (in order to promote the festival) for free.

Prizes:

Grand Prix Prize and other special prizes are financial prizes.

Grand Prix – for the best choir of the festival

Honour diplomas:

Golden Diploma: 91 – 100 pkt.
Silver Diploma: 81 – 90 pkt.
Bronze Diploma: 61 – 80 pkt.

SPECIAL PRIZES:
– for the best performance of modern composer’s piece
– for the most interesting interpretation of sacral piece
– for the best performance of prof. Joseph Swider’s piece
– for the best performance of folklore-inspired piece
– for the most interesting performance of the composer from Cieszyn Silesia

The choirs awarded the highest number of points, receive a Diploma for the Category Winners.

Jury reserves the right to award the prize not mention in the ‚competition rules’. Also jury has a right to other division of the prizes (other than mentioned in ‚competition rules’).
All the prizes will be taxed according to the existing law.

Costs of participation:

1. All choirs accepted by the artistic council in auditions come at their own expenses and they are obliged to pay application fee amount 500 PLN/130 EURO

In case not paying the application fee, the choir will not be allowed to auditions.
In case of resignation of participation the choir will not get the application fee back.

3. The organizers will provide:
– dinner for all the choirs taking part in the contest on the day of audition,
– accommodation on the day of 6/7 of December or 7/8 of December for all the choirs coming from the places located farther from Cieszyn than 350 km.

4.Choirs pay costs of accomodation in the University campus (cost about 40-50 PLN per person/10-12 euro) or hotels in Cieszyn according to their tarif. Organizers offer help in booking accomodation outside the univeristy campus if needed.

3. Organizers need to get accomodation booking list
Meals are issued in the university restaurant and restaurants in the city.
Prices: breakfast 15 PLN/3,5 euro, dinner (lunch) 12 – 15 PLN/3,5 euro, supper 15PLN/3,5 euro (prices per person)

Deadlines:

1. Carefully filled Application card along with attachments send via e-mail (festiwalswider@us.edu.pl) by the 30 th of September 2019.
2. Confirmation of paying the application fee need to be sent by the 10th of October 2019 via e-mail (festiwalswider@us.edu.pl)
3. Accepted choir are obliged to send 4 completes of music score by the 25th of November 2019.

The presentation of Józef Świder’s work is not obligatory, yet it entitles to compete for the Grand Prix prize of the festival.
4. Organisers reccomend and encourage to perform piece of other composer connected with Cieszyn Silesia. Although it’s not compulsory, there is special jury prize provided.
5. Those pieces that were declared in advance are compulsory and cannot be changed later.

Prices: breakfast 10 PLN, dinner (lunch) 10-15 PLN, supper 10 PLN (prices per person)

Deadlines:

1. Carefully filled Application card along with attachments send via e-mail (festiwalswider@us.edu.pl) by the 30 of September 2016.
2. Choirs will be informed whether they are accepted to the festival by the 10 of October 2016.
3. Confirmation of paying the application fee need to be sent by the 30 of September 2016 via e-mail (festiwalswider@us.edu.pl)
4. Accepted choir are obliged to send 4 completes of music score by the 15 of November 2016.
